Benjamin Deschamps

Quartet

OddSound ODS 11

2014

Band Presentation

Created in 2013, the Benjamin Deschamps Quartet is composed of Benjamin Deschamps (alto saxophone, compostion), Charles Trudel (piano), Sébastien Pellerin (double bass) and Alain Bourgeois (drums).

Grand Prix recipients of the Festi Jazz of Rimouski in september, the quartet got flatering reviews from one of the festival's jury members : " The Benjamin Deschamps Quartet brought out a nice participation from the audience thanks to the chemistry between the musicians. It distinguishes itself by the variety of the compositions, the felt improvisations, fluid execution, the cohesion of the musical thought, the elegance of the sound architecture, a the capacity to create climates and vigorous contrasts".

The leader of the musical formation, Benjamin Deschamps, obtained his diploma in Jazz Interpretation from McGill University. Born to improvise, the saxophonist also composed all the pieces for an album currently in preproduction, that the group hopes to release in February 2014 under the Odd Sound label, an artist cooperative of the Montreal jazz scene.

The Benjamin Deschamps Quarter therefore plans to position itself as a jazz formation that cannot be overlooked, to be known to the amateurs of the genre and perform on all stages ready to receive them.
